The Evergreens
The idea for ‘The Evergreens’ came about from the keen interest shown by the senior participants who attended the ‘Golden Years’ Workshop held on 18 Dec 2022.
Under Father Kamil’s direction and guidance, the first Evergreens session began on 2 March 2023.
Our participants are mainly active seniors with a few who have mobility limitations. As the name ‘Evergreens’ suggests, we want our activities to engage and to empower our seniors to remain active and functional; and, to stay relevant even as the years catch up with us.
Activities such as Qigong, Zumba, Line Dancing (just to name a few) ensure our participants stay active and healthy. Our physical activities are interspersed with prayer sessions and talks on health, life issues and spiritual growth to strengthen and deepen our faith as well.
Our Vision is GOD centred, both spiritually and in living and Growing Old with Dignity (GOD).
The term ‘Growing Old’ need not have negative connotations. Instead, it should be synonymous with ‘Growing Interesting’ and ‘Life-giving’ - leading meaningful lives filled with valuable and rich life experiences. Our golden years should be a time to make new friends, spend time on hobbies and interests and more time for family, friends and loved ones.
As a newly formed Evergreen Ministry (programme), we constantly strive to generate meaningful activities to engage our seniors.

Landings
Landings is a reconciliation ministry based on compassionate listening. At Landings, we welcome returning Catholics back to the Church. We also welcome Catholics who struggle in their relationship with God and the Church. We provide safe spaces where, in small groups, participants share their faith stories and explore Catholic themes confidentially and without judgement.
The Landings programme started in 1989 in the USA and has been in Singapore since 2008.
What to expect at Landings?
A typical Landings programme takes place over 10-weeks with weekly sessions that each last around two hours. Each session covers the following elements:
Check-in time and opening prayer
Faith story-telling
Response to story
Fellowship
Reflection on Catholic themes (the themes centre around our relationship with God as well as the Sacraments)
Closing Prayer
A weekend retreat takes place towards the end of the programme.

Lectors
This ministry involves telling “our family story, the story of salvation, by proclaiming the true and saving word of God”.
There are over 50 lectors in 7 teams, serving at the Weekday and Weekend masses. All lectors go through training, and we make use of extensive notes and resources to help us prepare for all the weekday & weekend mass reading assignments.
In addition, since 2000, lectors assigned to read for the coming weekend meet (on the Monday evening) to “break open the Word”, study the texts, practise together and prepare the Prayer of the Faithful for the Sunday.
If you are interested to become a lector, please look out for recruitment announcements. Or email us at lector.chs@gmail.com.

Youth and Young Adults
The youth ministry caters and reaches out to post confirmation students from ages 16 to 35, providing them with a platform to grow in faith with fellow youths.
For the youths to receive and relate more effectively in their journey, the ministry categorises them to three groups: Foundation Years (16 & 17 years), Formation Years (18 & 19 years), Leadership Years (20 years & above). This allows the ministry to better plan and cater to their various needs for prayer exposure, formation contents, fellowship activities, and service dimension aspects.
Meeting:
We meet weekly on Fridays at 8pm in rooms #03-06/07/08
Note: There will be no Youth sessions on First Fridays - Parish Holy Hour.
